Your bakes are brilliant. Your admin shouldn't be a mess.
BakeBase gives you a beautiful website, a proper order form, and a calendar that stops you overbooking, so you can focus on baking, not chasing DMs.
You're brilliant at baking.
You're drowning in admin.
You started this because you love baking. Now you spend half your time chasing DMs, writing quotes on your phone, and trying to remember who ordered what for Saturday.
Orders scattered everywhere
Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, Facebook messages, texts from your mum's friend. Half your week is spent scrolling back through conversations trying to find who wanted what.
No idea if you're free
Someone asks if you can do a cake for Saturday. You have to check your diary, your messages, that conversation you had at school pick-up... and you still aren't sure.
Pricing guesswork
Every quote is a calculation in your head. You second-guess yourself, charge too little, forget to include the cost of that fondant you had to order in.
Everything you need, nothing you don't
Built for how home bakers actually work, not made for big companies.
A site that looks as good as your bakes
Drag-and-drop builder, your own branding, a gallery that shows off your best work, and a menu customers can actually order from. Live in minutes. No developer, no faff.
- As many pages as you need, with a menu bar you control
- Your logo, your colours, your font
- Photo gallery with categories and captions
- Link-in-bio page (ditch Linktree)
- Use your own custom domain
No more DM chaos. Get paid properly.
Customers fill in a proper order form. You quote, take a deposit, hand over a receipt. Everything in one thread, paid straight to your bank through Stripe.
- Custom cake enquiry forms with photo uploads
- Pre-priced treats menu (cupcakes, tray bakes, cookies)
- Deposits and final balances paid straight to your bank
- PDF invoices and receipts emailed automatically
- Customers get an email at every step: quote, deposit paid, ready to collect
Never overbook again
Set how many orders you can handle per week. BakeBase shows customers what's available and auto-blocks new enquiries when you're full.
- Live availability calendar on your website
- Weekly capacity (e.g. “3 custom cakes max”)
- Auto-blocks when you're fully booked
- Holiday mode: one switch, you're closed
- Lead-time rules per product
Run your business, not a spreadsheet
See what's coming up, who owes you money, which customers keep coming back. All in one place, no spreadsheet required.
- Order dashboard showing this week at a glance
- Customer list with tags, notes and order history
- Finances: revenue, overdue balances, 12-month trend
- Spreadsheet export for your accountant
- Annual reminders: “Emma ordered a cake last May”

Built for bakers we know are
worth more than they charge.
Every UK home baker we know undercharges by 30 to 50%, juggles orders across DMs and a paper diary, and ends every weekend exhausted with not much to show for it. The tools that exist either ignore the UK entirely or treat custom cakes like Amazon products. So we built the tool we wished they had. Properly British, properly priced, properly designed for the way home bakers actually work.
Real reviews coming soon.
We're in closed beta and won't put words in bakers' mouths. As soon as our first customers are happy enough to say something nice, this space will fill with their actual quotes: names, towns, businesses you can verify.

Common questions from UK home bakers
The regulatory and practical bits people ask before signing up. Not legal advice; check the FSA, HMRC and your council for your specific situation.
Do I need to register my home baking business with HMRC?
Yes, once your trading income goes over the £1,000 trading allowance in a tax year. You'll need to register for Self Assessment with HMRC. Below £1,000, you don't have to declare it. From the 2026/27 tax year onwards, HMRC's reporting threshold for online sellers also applies, so it's worth registering sooner if you're growing.
Do I need to tell my local council I'm baking from home?
Yes. UK food businesses must register with their local council's environmental health team at least 28 days before trading. Registration is free. You'll usually get a hygiene rating inspection within a few weeks of starting. Most home bakers also do a Level 2 Food Hygiene course (online, around £20).
What about allergen labelling and Natasha's Law?
If you bake to order and hand directly to the customer, you must declare the 14 UK allergens on request. This can be on a menu, label, or your website. For pre-packed-for-direct-sale (PPDS) items, full ingredient labels are required under Natasha's Law. BakeBase has the 14-allergen list built into every product.
How do I take payments through BakeBase?
BakeBase uses Stripe. You connect your own Stripe account and customers pay you directly. Payouts go to your bank account on Stripe's normal schedule. We never hold your money. Standard Stripe fees apply (1.5% + 20p for UK cards, last we checked; check Stripe for the latest).
Do I need public liability insurance to sell cakes?
It's not a legal requirement for most home bakers, but it's strongly recommended, especially if you deliver, do markets, or supply to venues. Most home-baker policies sit around £60–£120/year and cover product liability too. Several specialists insure cake makers specifically.
Is BakeBase only for UK bakers?
Yes, deliberately. Pricing is in GBP, allergen lists follow UK FSA rules, the costing calculator uses UK National Living Wage and average UK electricity rates, and our content speaks to HMRC and council registration. Castiron, Wix and Shopify are American. We built the British version.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You can export everything (orders, customers, products) from your account page at any time, free. If you delete your account we delete everything within 30 days. We're GDPR-compliant and we're not in the business of holding your data hostage.
